The Clay Coyote Gallery of contemporary North American Fine Craft carries unique contemporary jewelry, handmade functional and art pottery, contemporary art glass, decorative and functional wood, textile and leather accessories and much more! Work is made by artisans throughout the US and Canada. Some 150 artists in all.
Tom and Betsy started the Clay Coyote Pottery in 1992. After a few years doing retail art fairs with the pottery, we started to also sell our pots to other shops and finding new customers at the Buyers Market of American Craft in Philadelphia each year. Besides meeting artists at art fairs and the Buyers Market, as we traveled around we stopped at other artists studios and galleries.
We had always had a Showroom in a well-house near our house here on the farm. But it was just that, really, a well-house….always too cold, too hot, dusty and dirty…pretty primitive, but everyone loved it…it had, um, well, character!
But because it was a ways from the studio to the showroom, we rarely were able to meet customers in person.
So in 2001 (actually the plot was hatched in 2000), we decided to add on to the studio building to upgrade the showroom. Then we said, ‘why not bring in othere peoples’ work? All those artists we’d met over the years.
So we did.
And now The Clay Coyote Gallery carries the work of some 140-150 artists, all handmade, all North American.
Visitors from the Twin Cities and around the country are generally amazed that there is a Gallery with this variety and quality out here ‘in the sticks’. Many say there isn’t a Gallery to compare anywhere in the Twin Cities or surround area. We hope so.
So please stop in and visit. We ship everywhere in the world. The work shown on this site is representative of what’s in the Gallery, and we try to keep up, but new work comes in almost daily.
