The Clay Coyote mission is to create handmade, affordable, functional pottery made in central Minnesota. To foster a Gallery and Studio space that supports and encourages collaboration among artists as they advance their craft, develop new techniques, and guide them as they build their businesses. And to engage the community to support and participate in creative arts.
Our Vision
The Clay Coyote is a small business incubator for emerging ceramic artists in central Minnesota. Not only do we supply a state-of-the-art studio space, we also provide skill development training to help our Emerging Artists successfully launch their own pottery businesses. And our Emerging Artists have an instant marketplace to sell their work in our established gallery and online store. Together, the Emerging Artists and the Clay Coyote team collaborate and grow the next generation of Minnesota potters.
The Clay Coyote is a destination for the clay-loving community; we provide handmade, unique, art you can use every day.
Our Values
The Clay Coyote credo states that our first responsibility is to the Emerging Artists and the clay-loving community that supports their craft. We will work together to create an environment that encourages creation of high quality, unique, and affordable handmade pottery. We will provide a space that allows for continuous collaboration, education, and testing. We will also work diligently to help the Emerging Artists launch their own small businesses.
We are also responsible to our employees and their families. Everyone must be considered an individual contributor to the Clay Coyote, recognized for their personal input, and treated with respect and dignity. Compensation must be fair and working conditions must be clean and safe. Employees must feel free to make suggestions and complaints without retribution. And we will provide equal opportunity for advancement and skill development.
We are responsible to the community in which we live and work and to the world community as well. We will support local organizations that work to advance the arts and life in Hutchinson. We will bear our fair share of taxes and will participate in community leadership. We encourage civic engagement among our Emerging Artists, employees, and our supporters. We will protect the environment and natural resources and we will use sustainable practices where possible.
Our final responsibility is to our funders and owners. The Clay Coyote must make a sound profit and we must work to create reserves to have in place for challenging economic times. We must continually innovate and try new tactics at every opportunity. And invest our finances prudently, responsibly, and with a focus on sustainable growth.
These values are the foundation of the Clay Coyote, and together, we all are responsible for upholding these principles.
