Kylie Rieke
Studio Potter
May 2018 – current
I was first introduced to the potter’s wheel in college and I have been addicted ever since.
I graduated from Augsburg College with B.A. in Studio Art and went on to work a couple of dead end office jobs around the Twin Cities. So my husband, Jake, and I joined the Peace Corps. We served two years in a remote village of El Salvador with scorching heat, a difficult daily life, and a very rewarding experience.
When we returned to Minnesota, we realized the city life was no longer for us and we joined Jake’s family farm in rural Fairfax. I was lucky enough to find a job in production pottery, and I worked for a couple of years making cremation urns on the potter’s wheel. We now have 2 girls, Avery age 6 and Maya age 4. I play violin with the New Ulm Suzuki School of Music and the MSU Mankato Community Orchestra. I’m also a founding member of the T-Bird Community Arts association in the GFW school district. I love living on a farm close to our families and being back in the neighborhoods where I grew up.
I started at Clay Coyote in May of 2018, and I am really excited to be back in a pottery studio!
