Coyote East? What’s that you say? Are Betsy and Tom opening a new gallery in Savannah? Paris? Sadly no…. Coyote East is the nickname given to me (Morgan), Betsy’s daughter. It started when I got my first job out of college as an investigative journalist in Washington, DC. I began a Clay Coyote word of mouth campaign (ok, I talked about home a lot) and orders began coming in from the east.
It has been a while since those early days in DC. We did some time in Austin, TX, Coyote South? And then recently moved back to the East Coast, to New York City.
Yep, a Hutch girl in the Big Apple. Turns out there are a lot of Minnesotans in the City, so many that there is a monthly Minne-Apple-In-The-Big-Apple happy hour group. They have hot dish competitions and bar-offs (not those, these kind of bars). There are even a lot of Hutch-expats in the city as well. We all got together for Jucy Lucy’s this fall.
So we are back east. All three of us. You should know I married a New Englander (hereafter to be referred to as ISSB). And six years ago this March we adopted a little dog found roaming the mean streets of Alexandria, VA. Sarge puts up with us and has his little Coyote East homage.
We are settling in to the City, the new apartment, the new jobs, the new neighbors, and the fun new things to see and do each day. We decided that it is time for me to have a regular contributing column on the Coyote Blog. I plan to have two main features: Cooking with Coyote East and The Travel Mug. Cooking with Coyote East is self-explanatory, but sure to be interesting, stay tuned for my banana-bread bread pudding recipe and my High Brow Bowl menu for Super Bowl Sunday. As for “the Travel Mug” I have enlisted many friends from around the city to take a Clay Coyote mug with them as we travel the world, think of it as Where’s Waldo for pottery lovers. We picked out a lovely new mug in Pistachio. And it already has some upcoming trips on the calendar: London; Raleigh, Cape Cod, Portland, Philadelphia, Brazil…and many more. The Travel Mug may also make some appearances around the city. Here is the mighty mug posing with Aron, a good friend and future mug travel companion.
More soon,
